Abstract This Academy is for 36 at-risk rural Kansas middle school students and their teachers in an elective course (October 2010-April 2011) – “Interactive Technologies”.  The goal is for students to experience a more realistic approach to contemporary STEM subjects through immersive environments. Students learn about leadership through reading the seven habits of highly effective leaders, exploring and building in both the Greenbush Grid and Rocketworld in OpenSim through constructivist and constructionist approaches. Students also interact with students in-world in Colorado and Massachusetts. Activities, student work examples, and resources will be presented.  RocketWorld is a member of the Immersive Education Grid consortium.
