Title Product Based Virtual Spaces for College Recruiting

Abstract With the evolution of the virtual world industry there's been a large demand for targeted virtual world platforms. With over 450 virtual worlds classified by K-Zero it is imperative that educators learn which virtual world spaces can be adapted to reach their initiatives. This presentation will discuss some of the open-source platforms in which are being adopted by many of the universities and will also talk about some commercial platforms used for recruiting a potential students. As virtual world platforms continue involved we will see more specialization and enhanced features that will make it more convenient for users to be able to quickly enter the virtual world space and utilize the tools within it.
Bio(s): Andrew Hughes: ndrew is the President/Owner of Designing Digitally, Inc. and is involved in all aspects of the business. Andrew first started his career at the age of 15 by helping to create an Internet Service Provider that served over 5,000 users in Northwest Ohio. By the age of 18 he was working as a technology coordinator for 9 district schools in Putnam County, Ohio. Andrew attended Bowling Green State University in the Digital Design program where he learned the tricks of the trade in the interactive media and virtual worlds. After graduation Andrew moved to Cincinnati where he taught at The Art Institute of Ohio – Cincinnati in the Interactive Media Design department. In the meantime, he earned his Master's of Management in Information Technology. Andrew started Designing Digitally, Inc. in 2001 when he saw a large need for interactive engaging multimedia experiences forthcoming in the future. You will find Andrew working in many capacities throughout the design process. When Andrew is not working at Designing Digitally, Inc. you will find him at the University of Cincinnati teaching in the Business and Interactive Media departments. Andrew has been privileged to have had the opportunity to continue to work with some of his former students as they have pursued positions at Designing Digitally, Inc.
